My favorite part of a game of Sid Meier's Civilization VI (or V, for that matter) is from about the Ancient to the Renaissance where I can still explore for empty land and plop my cities down in them. Then when the whole world has been bordered up, I lose interest and start a new game.
I should really play more of Before We Leave, since it has a heavy exploration focus as well but without any sort of warfare element to it.
