If you rightfully despise Fandom wikis (formerly Wikia), you can use https://breezewiki.com/ to view their material without any of the terrible ads or cross-sells. There are even instructions to set up your browser to use it automatically, so that Google results become functional again.

Wikis with extensive use of custom controls (like the Warframe wiki) look a bit messed-up but are mostly intact.

I think their content is all permissively licensed. I've often thought of setting up a read-only clone that just scrapes and mirrors their wikis. If it becomes popular enough, you could enable editing, making a hard fork and (hopefully) strangle their wikis to death.

Yup, all (most) content is CCBYSA3.0, and Fandom uses MediaWiki under the hood. You could totally run a modified BreezeWiki instance yourself (it's OSS) to gain a following and then swap to a proper MediaWiki instance yourself when the time is right. The biggest obstacle is that BreezeWiki uses a relatively obscure language (Rocket).

It should theoretically be possible, but I don't know of an existing piece of software for it. It doesn't look like Fextralife uses MediaWiki, so you wouldn't just be able to swap out some domain in BreezeWiki's code, and it also has a shitty license that would mean you'd be violating copyright (but doing so justifiably, IMO).
