yeah! it's something i'm always thinking about like, it's so prevalent everywhere that it's easy to get desensitized to it, and not just "arabic" music but like... 'cultural' shortcuts used across all kinds of traditional musics
Exactly! It's something ive experienced a lot with western interpretation of mainly southeast Asian music being basically completely erased and replaced, so seeing people talk about it honestly has been such an important feeling
