i honestly can really understand not wanting to use firefox. like there's a lotta specifics that get into browser choice & firefox has got a lotta minor issues that add up. if you want maximized compatibility even as good as firefox has gotten in that realm, chrome ones still obviously win, but that isnt what makes me feel so passionate about it.
it has one of those problems where it feels like the developers never imagined people use browsers in different ways from them, even though i know they are definitely considerate in the design considering how large the firefox team is. compact mode no longer being supported, userchrome being FULLY deprecated despite its fairly large presence in the community; in general, firefox is not very pleasant to me in its default state and each update makes it even harder to to customize. aside from that mostly personal gripe, there's absolutely a lot of particular stuff chrome can do that firefox just cant; web midi, web adb, a shit ton of contemporary css mechanics, etc. but while there is a bottomless list of those things, it definitely doesn't leave such a strong negative impression on me like the generally poor UX. like, ive only managed to reach like, 60-70% satisfaction by using a wildly heavily customized copy of waterfox! to this day, the old XUL browsers still have a vastly better user experience in my opinion, even almost a decade later. and honestly, i dont think thats because of XUL specifically, i just think that they layout, look & feel, and general vibe was more enjoyable, easier to use / understand at a glance, and more distinct from chrome. i really dont think its impossible to just have modern firefox be organized like the old XUL firefox versions were, and i earnestly think it would greatly benefit user retention for people trying out firefox.
but then again, im EXTREMELY biased, so... lmfao
