been poking at a character model again, i took a bit of a break after not being really satisfied with how the last one turned out
tonight I spent a significant amount of time in blender's shader editor trying to approximate the style of shading used in the official art for sonic adventure 1 and 2. it's not perfect but i feel pretty good about it.
i have a separate map i'm using to control how much of the effect is applied, so i can tune it specifically for different materials.
red channel: regular shadows
green channel: chunky highlights
blue channel: darker colors leading up to the chunky highlights
