edit 9/16: @fluffy set up https://cwr.beesbuzz.biz/ which does exactly this!

specifically, creating a single mega-feed firehose that mixes together the rss (or atom) feeds of people who opt in, so that folks who haven't yet set up rss readers won't have to scramble to both collect a lot of feeds and get them into a reader.

but... maybe that's redundant with efforts like https://cohost.org/Michael-Klamerus/post/7635491-going-to-try-to-make, idk. it seems to me like there could still be some value in organically having posts placed in front of you from people that you didn't specifically add to your reader but idk

the sort of organic discovery you get from following people who then boost chosts seems more difficult to replicate. i'm not sure what a usable replacement looks like in a post-cohost rss feed world. blog posts containing links to other blog posts??

if you have thoughts about this lmk. and if you would be interested in having your rss feed appear in a hypothetical rss feed firehose, please leave a comment, and if there's sufficient interest i'll start working on it. the idea of smashing together feeds that haven't explicitly opted in seems kind of icky to me but i'm not sure if others feel that way.

i have been contemplating this very thing. what if cohost2 isn't a single website or even a federation but instead a loose collection of people with websites who curate feeds like this?
