the union effort at Western Washington University -- Western Academic Workers Union -- is trying to change a law that says WWU student employees cannot unionize, and they need some signatures. if you're sympathetic and would like to help persuade the state to move forward with challenging this issue, then there is this poll you can fill out to state that you are in favor (voting "pro") of changing this law.
You do not need to be a WWU student, but probably at least a WA resident, or somehow affiliated with the state, unions, academic institutes, or an alumni. Below is the link to the legislation and a brief explanation about their cause:
"Our bill for student employees at Western to have collective bargaining rights made it out of the house and senate labor committee and we will be providing testimony again on Monday for the house committee on appropriations.! The legislators in both the house and senate were super impressed by the amount of support we showed up a few weeks with and We hope to do it again!!
