the XFL’s back and it’s a weird mess again but it’s fun

level of play was pretty good but also super uneven
it’s fun to hear the play calling from the sidelines
the 1-2-3 points after are legitimately good, and so are the kickoff/punt rules
commentators are super aggro about reminding you that the coaches can challenge any call, and that this is something you can only see in the XFL
some mysterious technical issue kept happening where the audio would backmask over itself for a couple seconds
they did a sideline interview with a player about how his dad died this morning and talked at length about how hard it is to play with that on your mind, only getting cut off by his team fumbling and him having to take the field

completely inscrutable vibes

i'm not super invested in it, i remember getting burned on the AAF four years back, but honestly this league seems pretty entertaining. hoping to maybe see an XFL/USFL interleague championship in the future, though that would probably require rescheduling one league's season, and uh. rescheduling their season didn't work well for the first USFL. thanks, donald.

I miss the AAF. It's such a shame that Dundon took it over and gutted it after he couldn't get a deal to be the minor league of the NFL.

i mean it was probably doomed from the start, but dundon absolutely accelerated its demise. that tackle from shaan washington still lives rent-free in my mind though

nah, a friend of mine has Youtube TV and I went over to her place to check it out! though we are planning on grabbing tickets to one of Seattle's home games, since they were silly cheap last time we checked.
