sometimes you just want to build a sprawling metropolis and not worry about dumping resources into Guns for the inevitable moment the Evil Aliens show up

the not wanting to do combat in a building game thing is exactly why i never picked up factorio i will check this out soon
They made combat optional in factorio, there's a couple options in world gen that you can mess with. I really don't enjoy the combat and I have like 1K hrs in it now.
