gonna take the numbers tesla claims for battery recyclability with a huge grain of salt, like I do everything else out of elon's mouth -- and I don't know how much, as he suggests at the end, that larger battery factories are going to reduce the emissions of building battery packs, given that my assumption is that the emissions are heavily weighted toward extracting raw materials rather than manufacturing -- but the numbers sound reasonable enough

watched this this morning, too. the upfront cost of mining the batteries is so insane every time i hear it. i'd also be curious to see a side-by-side of like, yknow, not-trucks cuz like... a hybrid would potentially have an even greater CO2 debt to payoff since it's also causing emissions maybe 1/3rd of the time but it never charges at an outlet, only powers itself through regenerative breaking and stuff
