long-time css criminals are aware of the fact that the only way to do css animations in a post is to steal one of the animations from the site itself, and a lot of people specifically like to use the bounce animation for silly purposes

people have also noticed that the site doesn't actually use it for real anywhere

the secret: we use it for a special element in the top nav that only appears when your session is wearing "mod mode"

my original design intent for making it bounce is

  1. it's an animation our CSS framework comes with for free
  2. it's extremely obnoxious, which reminds you to turn mod mode off as soon as you finish doing work
