Points! on the blockchain

What are the benefits of the blockchain?
Think of the blockchain as a public database that anyone can see and use. This gives Community Points several key benefits:

• Ownership. Things on the blockchain can only be controlled by the user who holds them. This means no powerful centralized entity can take users' Points away.

huh. no powerful centralized entity can take users' Points!™ away? phew, glad to clear that up. errr wait what's this

What if I get banned? What happens to my Points or my Special Membership? Your existing Points will forever remain tied to your Vault address, but you will get locked out of Vault. You’ll also stop receiving distributions, and any Special Membership renewals will be cancelled.

your money's still here, in your wallet. can you have the wallet back? well, no.

it's truly amazing how just, bad this all is

"you can show off your blockchain points score in chat apps because it's all on the blockchain" my man i could just scrape the karma off of my fuckin user page

i don't even go here, i haven't used reddit since like 2012, but i find it very odd how consistently weird the problems are between all the sites right now

like in 2012 the biggest complaint on sites like reddit or twitter or tumblr were 'dangit! they changed the ui a little bit!'

now the problems are like, 'the people running the platform do not seem to understand what their website is, who it is for, and have started mindlessly jamming in as many halfbaked buzzword-driven systems as possible seemingly with the goal of hemorrhaging all of their goodwill as fast as they can'
