I've been looking into Hunt the Wumpus (an ancestor of the adventure game, originally from 1973) and it's led me down a rabbit hole researching the People's Computer Company. Shit like this and Community Memory and PD libraries are so inspiring. Placing the power of computers into the hands of the working class almost as soon as it became halfway viable to do so.

If you think that's neat, you should check out Telehack (https://telehack.com). Super cool community with a ton of cool old computing stuff and a bunch (i.e. usenet archive, thousands and thousands of simulated hosts, has its own BASIC dialect - it's a super deep rabbit hole).
