- the issues with being able to see shares of posts from people you’ve blocked, or who have blocked you, have been fixed.
- we’re pretty sure the “double profile”/”followers loop”/”followers go sideways” bugs were all the same bug, and that all of them are fixed now.
- erratum from last week: handles were actually not case-insensitive but case preserving (we thought they were because usernames were, and at one point your username and page handle were the same thing.) but they are now! we reached out to everyone affected by this bug and fixed up their accounts individually.
- some performance improvements have been made to rendering posts.
- the site doesn’t let you attempt to submit empty comments any more, instead of letting you try and fail to submit them.
- fixed a softlock in the comment composer. comment speedrunners rejoice.
- made the “this post contains adult content” and “this post contains content from people you’ve muted” placeholders slightly prettier, and also visible to people using the light theme (sorry, we’re all goblins and use dark mode.)
- some issues with the registration CAPTCHA failing to complete reliably have been fixed.
- if you link to posts in discord or twitter now, you should get a preview card instead of just a boring old link. (unfortunately, as jae described, the full experience when you see these in most services is special-cased for the most popular platforms, so our level of support can’t be quite where we want it to be.)
coming up on cohost
we don’t want to get in the habit of promising dates for things for fear of missing those dates, but here’s what we’re working on right now:
- more performance improvements, especially to pages with lots of posts on them; we’re hoping that they’ll get at least twice as fast.
- you’ll actually be able to change your password soon, and even reset it if you forget it!
- shout out to all the people who messaged jae to report they forgot their password. this one’s for you.
- we’re figuring out how we want to handle duplicated identical shares of posts on your dash. the technical work is largely done but there’s a lot of open UX questions we want to solve before shipping anything. just know that it’s in progress.

- the issue with CW’d content showing up in post URLs is still around
- i’m realizing as i write this that it probably applies to shared post previews as well.
