really loving the aesthetic choices bomb rush cyberfunk made in its decisions about how to update its standards for texturing -- where things like billboards and tags are extremely high-resolution, but a lot of other stuff has visible texels on it -- and level geometry, where all of the architectural forms are credibly something that could've shown up on the dreamcast, but there's so fucking many of them that you know it has to be a modern game

absolutely having these same reactions. the game obviously takes so much from JSRF, but in the case of art direction and production specifically it demonstrates that it knows exactly what those creative decisions "meant" and is wielding them very deliberately.
