i do think if you wanna target older hardware C/C++ is a good choice because a lot of support for older hardware has been inadvertently elided from rust/go/etc. there's a lot of bizarre differences in 32-bit cpus
yeah, this is a fair point
equally I don't blame more modern language runtimes for killing 32-bit support because intel and AMD, much to their credit, retconned out a lot of the jankiest parts of IA-32 with x86-64
