... have seen a couple of big chemistry youtubers get "scooped" on syntheses of different compounds they were working on by randos which, like, the big thing about chemistry youtube is that nobody on there is doing novel work, just trying to reproduce known syntheses on their own lab setup.
really not sure what anyone is going for here.
(though explosions & fire did have it coming once he explicitly mentioned the prospect of getting scooped in a video.)
