been reading Scott Rettberg's Electronic Literature for my thesis and it's excellent. It's very broad-minded in a way that I think is useful, not limiting itself to very specific definitions or eras, discussing everything from Patchwork Girl to Brion Gyson to Blue Lacuna to Dwarf Fortress, and does a very good job of being a theoretical work on understanding and analyzing e-lit, a historical archive, and an overview of many, many interesting projects. It is also, unlike a lot of books on digital poetics and lit, recent enough to discuss things like Twine and Tracery and covers lots of things outside gallery/conceptual/academic artwork - not that electronic gallery art is uninteresting, but a lot of theoretical works overly focus on institutional art to a degree that i think misses a lot of the actual interesting stuff in the field, whereas Rettberg discusses people like Squnkifer and Emily Short.
Highly recommended if you're interested in this sort of topic or just looking for cool writing and games to check out! Great book!
