Ok, this is something I have been thinking about: is a map of a collection of true facts about a territory, even if it doesn't depict true facts, or is a map a fiction, and the fact of the map and the fact of the territory are not related?

in my hardline poststructural days i'd say the latter but in this new era of spiritual phenomenology i'd lean closer to the former insofar as perception is an act of fact-assignation and collection and all objects are affected by the way we look at and through them
