I posted the acoustic re-recording of this a while back, but now it’s time for the original. 😌

In the last two-ish years The Chameleons have quickly become a favorite, and I constantly find myself putting on Script of the Bridge and What Does Anything Mean? Basically, both stone-cold classics. But despite a lot of people’s love for it I haven’t yet managed to crack Strange Times - I may just need to spend more time with it, but it just holds me a bit at arms length.

There’s one big exception to that though, and it’s “Swamp Thing”, which is easily on my mental list of “songs I’m sometimes convinced are the best ever recorded”. The marching beat, the wonderful guitar, the atmospheric washes of keyboard, and the great hooks combine with some of Mark Burgess’ best lyrics to make this quite possibly the definitive Chameleons track
