You know, since a lot of computer savvy people are on this site, I might as well ask if anyone has advice for a problem we've been having for a few years now. I'll put it under a readmore so I don't take up too much space but
TL;DR:

  • ASUS ROG laptop running Win10 can't sign in to Microsoft accounts for computer profiles.
  • Can't run installers unless unblocking them manually - Will freeze program otherwise.

Okay, the context. We had to send in our laptop to ASUS a few years ago because the monitor was glitching at certain refresh rates (which was annoying in and of itself, but that's not really relevant). Once we got the laptop back, the problem was obviously fixed, but they had also reformatted our computer. I... Don't fully remember why, but we had anticipated it. They had also made us a new local account profile for it. So, we moved all of our stuff back to the computer and called it there because it was functioning now.
However, a few months into it we started getting issues. We can't log into the Microsoft Store (which means we can't download, like, a LOT of files bc Windows would rather shit and cry than hand you an .exe these days). We can't log into our Microsoft Account in our settings, so our preset settings can't be shared between devices, we can't connect our phone to our laptop, etc.
Again, it's like... Not really THAT big of an issue, but it's annoying and it'd be nice to download Solitaire or something without having to find a portable zip.

Oh, and speaking of, I'm not sure if this is related or not, but we can't run ANY download/setup files without going into the properties of it and unblocking it from the security we supposedly have...? If we DON'T do that, it'll freeze the entire program we try to run the file from (file explorer, run, Firefox, the desktop, etc.). Again, we DO have a currently working work-around, but it's just annoying. :/

I don't remember everything that we've tried for either problem other than what I listed already because our girlfriend (who is FAR better with computers than we are) has done the majority of the futzing with these issues, so really ANY suggestion/tip/advice/etc. would be VERY appreciated, and I'll run it by her to see if we've tried that or not.
