When we’re looking in the mirror
All I see is an old ghost
Someone dead who’ll never speak now
Whispers of a long gone hostIf the flesh outside us echoed
All our special traits and quirks
Maybe then we’d feel congruent
Maybe flesh would have some perksMy body is a stranger
Masquerading in my home
When their eyes are on your puppet
You do as they do in RomeNever seeing the bright comets
Shooting stars behind the mask
To be seen by one outside us
Such a simple thing we askTrue, this body is our vessel
But for most it isn’t ours
Incompatible with nature
Fed up with the higher powersWe self-contemplate for comfort
So the stars within us glow
Maybe this will tide us over
Until when, we do not knowWe sit still inside our mind
With just each other to brave the storms
Where nobody else can see us
Hand in hand in our own forms
