A portal is like a window (and windows make great portals) into something else. A place that is not this. Something beyond this physical world that I know and touch and love and is so limiting and lonely and is also so full of anything and everything. The appeal of new and different, yes, but there's more, there's more, there's more. Grasping and fumbling at air. Wordless and feral.
