Colour ramps! As a pixel artist i'm very invested in Putting Colours Into Gradients as a means of showing off your palette(s), and lego is no exception to that.
below the cut, every colour in this image, in the order shown (using bricklink naming) and every colour i'm missing that i would have wanted to include!
- Red gradient: Coral, Red, Dark Red
- Yellow gradient: Bright Light Yellow, Yellow, Bright Light Orange, Orange
- Tan gradient: Tan, Dark Tan
- Brown gradient: Medium Nougat, Dark Orange, Reddish Brown
- Lime gradient: Lime, Olive Green
- Grey gradient: White, Light Bluish Gray, Dark Bluish Gray, Black
- Green gradient: Light Aqua, Bright Green, Green, Dark Green
- Other Green """gradient""": Sand Green, Dark Turquoise
- Blue gradient: Medium Azure, Dark Azure, Blue, Dark Blue
- Pale Blue gradient: Bright Light Blue, Medium Blue, Sand Blue
- Purple gradient: Lavender, Medium Lavender, Dark Purple
- Pink gradient: Bright Pink, Dark Pink, Magenta
I am missing a handful of standard colours in my dots collection at the moment:
- sand green, unfortunately, i would like to have some of those. substitued here with an ingot tile
- yellowish green. would fit well on top of the lime ramp i reckon
dark brownwait no i just remembered i have some of those set aside for my fursona moc. definitely not one you would have found in a traditional dots set- nougat and light nougat. it turned out i did have a few medium nougat though! can't remember where from
Other colours i'm less interested in for dots in particular:
- silver! weirdly enough. i have a few cheese slopes in pearl and metallic gold, but nothing silver of any kind.
- i only have one trans-purple round tile, would be nice to get more of those
- neon yellow is too new for me to have any At All
- ...wait. medium tan and medium brown??? ohh those are like. super new and barely used for anything aside from mini dolls
- glitter and satin are much less common, but i do have an absolute PILE of satin trans-white tiles from some dots set or other. really neat material, fun optical properties
- definitely not bothering with any out of production colours. i try to avoid them for the most part (barring more recently retired ones like trans-neon) just because i like all the newly released parts so much
