it's not the thing everyone talks about with this movie (and this character's) legacy but in Illumination's "The Lorax" it was a bad idea to give the onceler a face and personality beyond being just an old, faceless businessman
in the original, the onceler's main personality trait is he simply doesnt give a shit. he just doesnt care. in the illumination version, onceler gets different motivations and knows he's being evil and then he like, has a change of heart and becomes nice or whatever..... rubbish!
the story went from "capital is an unfeeling machine that will kill everything in its path" to "actually capitalism is fine as long as we're all very sorry about it, we can fix it:)" which is as hyperliberal as can be.
