mostly because of "big picture" stuff.
the near-monopoly of chromium gives alphabet enormous power in dictating the adoption of new standards, and this is exactly what has stymied adoption of JpegXL, the main (and much much better) competitor to the WebX formats, and their preferential treatment of WebP is arguably why the vulnerability exists everywhere rather than just... idk, "a lot of places".
Also because i'm literally just shitposting about how my personal beeves with the format (it's like PDF but for individual assets, personal editing tools mostly can't work with them, they're for reading only) now coincide with like, real gamebreakers.
But yeah, fuck chromium, fuck alphabet, I hope everyone in their C-suite falls out a window and i'm always ready to help, etc etc.
