Hello Cohost Community,
Like many cat owners, I keep a nice little box of sand in my spare room (I just think it is neat to have sand indoors, plus I love to generate dust).
Unfortunately, my little one has gotten into the habit of pooping and peeing in my sand?
I clean it out every day, and every day she comes back and poops in the sand again?
How can I explain to my cat that poop goes in the tub like normal people, and sand is just for making dust?
Thanks!

Hi warc, have you tried leaving a Thinkway Walt Disney Toy Story, 1995, Talking Pull String 1st Edition Woody Doll in the sand pit as a sort of.. "scare of the crow?" I believe from personal experience this should dissuade any would-be assailant to the grains within.

i know this is a gaffe but now i'm thinking of the absolutely deranged ways and poses my cat contorts herself into to use the litter box, she is not normal and we love her

I know this doesn't really solve your problem, but I believe what your cat is doing is known as "marking her territory", and you should be happy to hear that going to such lengths to mark your box of sand means that she has great affection for it!

Perhaps you can convince her to transition to expressing her shared love of sand in another way, such as standing near it contemplatively. HTH.
