laptops should have at least four USB-C ports, two on each side. they should all be full-spec Thunderbolt 4. You should be able to charge the laptop from any of them. come on
And if they're already thick enough, full HDMI, Ethernet, and USB-A, IMO. Probably also DisplayPort.
Intel-based Frameworks hit this mark, which is wild because in so many ways it feels like what all laptops could be, but it's forever gonna be niche.

I have a Dell XPS that has this. It's nice, aside from the part where it's made by Dell and came with bloatware. Not a huge fan of having to use an adapter for things (why don't they make good usb-c mice yet?), but I didn't have to pay for it so y'know, can't complain.
