Just like the Shooting Star Hammer, the World Caller is an artifact made with the technology from the combined intellect of three ancient sapient species.
This item's function was to create an array of shields using the world as a catalyst. As said before, this was only effective at barely stopping the superluminal pulse. The planet was basically sterilized by the supernova afterward.
