the Pokémon anime and video games present a sanitized, romanticized version of the world in order to appeal to children. In real life, Pokémon battling isn't like that at all, any more than GI Joe is like the Global War on Terror

my Blastoise masterkeys the hinges, and immediately my Raichu uses Flash and the rookie Venosaur panics and just fills the room with razor leaves. We use Revives according to RoE (we're not allowed to use Super Revives on suspected Enemy Combattants so we left them two potions for the six of them) and moved to clear the next house.

Several of the types are extremely dangerous. There are burn wards full of people who got too close to a Ponyta or a Slugma. Electric types have led to numerous fatalities. Some countries have just outright banned the use of psychic Pokémon.
