I've been asked to contribute artwork to the mecha tabletop RPG Lancer. These are opportunities I always relish as chances to fully exercise my skills as a mecha artist. A chance to take off the training weights and really let loose. But it can be a double edged sword sometimes.
This character will be the subject matter of my next Lancer illustration. So it makes sense to spend some time thinking about her design.
She's only going to be seen from behind.
She's also going to take up about 8% of the canvas if we're being generous.
A smarter artist would understand that with those parameters in mind; she really doesn't need more detailed art, one from the front no less. But I can't help it. There are certain projects that possess me with the desire to bring everything I have to the forefront.
So I hope some people will appreciate this nameless, soon to be faceless pilot. It really doesn't matter who she is or where she's going, but if she catches your eye, then I hope that feeling carries over into the final piece.
