two-month-delayed N64 s-video cable finally arrived, and is very good. no need for RGB on this system imo.

this is a pleasingly vibe-y game sometimes. i'm surprised how much i don't remember from when i rented (and beat it!) as a teen. i'm finding some of the dungeoning a bit boring so far but nothing too taxing. pleasantly surprised that the funny writing lands more often than i'd expect, given that this is probably not the best localization.

intend to play Goemon's Great Adventure for the first time next, but the humor has me interested in trying some of the early Famicom ones, too.

(i wish my phone camera wouldn't generate so much moire when taking screenshots off CRTs. at least the colors are looking pretty saturated now though, if still inaccurate. the breakthrough was i finally figured out how to set the shutter speed close to 1/60.)
