in reply to @wave's post:

NES or Xbox? i'm a huge fan of the NES version. but i've noticed that people who come to NES NG in modern times can find it offputtingly difficult.

i played it as a kid though so its patterns live in my hands, and it's very pleasing to run through them. (world 6 is still super rude, though)

I'm a sucker for the Xbox trilogy (definitely making a post about them someday). I played a ton of the NES trilogy in my youth too. I'm not too familiar with NG3 on the NES though.

Both trilogies are difficult games, but once you learn the patterns and layouts of the NES games they're really fun. Xbox trilogy requires a lot of execution and knowledge of what moves/strings have i-frames. Especially on Master Ninja difficulties.

sidenote: There was a relay race of the NES Ninja Gaiden games in a past GDQ event and it was brilliant. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
