i think a "#latest downloads" tag would be fun.

as you can see i'm getting more serious about catching up on Wong Kar-wai (direct result of someone's chost on here). i'm also struggling to get though 1988's DeVito / Schwarzenegger vehicle Twins (via Netflix; it's an oof so far) and reading the also-1988 book Fumbling the Future: How Xerox Invented, then Ignored, the First Personal Computer (PDF).

if you're like me, the amount of disparate media you're interested in is far greater than the amount you can actually get around to viewing/reading/playing/listening to this week1, much less postin' about. but at least showing others what you're angling toward lately can illuminate what intrigues you, spark conversation, and perhaps give others a cue to check out art they wouldn't otherwise be thinking of.

i dunno i just have so many interests and micro-obsessions and only 2% make it onto here. this can help boost that to... 5% or something. i'd welcome others to try sharing their #latest downloads too.

in reply to @wave's post:

hehe. since getting 1440p monitors my movie encode sweet spot's increased to 5-6GB. i also like to have surround audio in case i feel like headphone virtualization.

i forgot i had actually watched The Grandmaster nearly two years ago (according to my notes). but this is the much lengthier original Chinese cut which i'd been curious about, so it works out.

if you're going to watch one Wong Kar-wai, i hear that Chungking Express is the surest crowdpleaser. i might watch that next.

i felt somewhat indifferent to the other one i watched, Days of Being Wild (1990), but it turned me on to its incredible lead, Leslie Cheung. he had a tragic end, but burned brightly while he was with us.
