can't believe how compelling i find this show.

the way it methodically explores the strangeness of a whole alternate society derived from the traits of animals is riveting. it's moody and dark. the emotional beats often land hard, i think probably heightened by the additional layers of meaning derived from the characters' animalistic traits. its relentlessly logical exploration of these differences fosters moments of humor and whimsy, too.

it's beautifully rendered and scored

maybe emotions hitting stronger (more easily?) with anthros is part of what being "furry" means for me

Even for not-furries like myself, the exploration of a society where everyone is a different species, with their own traits and unique needs, is really fascinating. Worked really well in Zootopia too, which I think is part of why everyone likes that movie (you know, in addition to the good character writing, fun mystery plot, etc... which Beastars also has, now that I think about it.)

And Legoshi is just such a big, sad, relatable boy!
