Are you sure this wasn't a joke, because I've said this same sort of thing (as a joke) to one of my friends who streams on twitch (for fun not as a career). I don't know if I'm capable of understanding the thought process that would lead someone to say this unironically
more seriously though i think there are a lot of people--actually, we all do this, to varying degrees--who baste in the current cultural ways of seeing etc. and slip into adopting its language without much critical evaluation of any deeper meaning, context, subtext, etc.
