yeah, that's the worst

handy AutoHotKey workaround i praise the goddess for near daily:

; ctrl-alt-v: paste when pasting disabled by program/website
^!v:: sendraw %clipboard%

just create a new AHK script and paste this in, save it, run it. ctrl-alt-v will now defeat most of these sabotaged text entry fields.

by the way, can anyone tell me how to do code blocks on this site without the damn tilde characters that trigger the code block also rendering? (also i need to enclose every single line in them because if i just put them at start and end of intended block it kills the linebreaks? must be something wrong...)

You can do multi-line code blocks by putting three consecutive backticks (same symbol as inline code blocks) on one line, your code on the next few lines, and then another line of three backticks to close it off.

These don't display the surrounding characters.

There was some css hack for inline code snippets without displaying those things - I think it was like <pre style="quotes:none";>code goes here</pre>? Not sure if that still works.
