I'm not sure how many retrobritings a Super NES shell could withstand anyway. Super Nintendo plastic is remarkably brittle for some reason. It's like Nintendo made them out of saltines.
that bad, huh?
retrobriting has never been of much interest to me as i'm not interested in keeping much of the hardware it's relevant to (because MiSTer replaces it, etc.). but i understand the benefits are apparently fairly temporary (always?) so when i do research it i'm surprised i don't see more people talking about that or other possible drawbacks, like the brittleness you mention.
you make it sound pretty bad!
Super NES plastic tends to be brittle even before it's given the Retrobrite treatment! I don't know how the chemicals affect the plastic, but I can't imagine they would strengthen it.
