after an initial day of having only composite N64 to check out (lol... still, pretty damn good composite though!) i finally got MiSTer to sync with the 2950Q after changing from YPbPr to five-wire RGBHV. open the gen 1-6 console floodgates!

both NES 2D and PSX 3D look stunning. it's hard to get good photos of CRTs with my phone camera (moire runs wild, colors way off) but this one's 80% there and suggests just how lovely Tekken 2 is looking on this display. it's actually a very good-looking game imo when using its intended display technology.

a NES Xevious title screen looks nice on a CRT display

this is the platonic ideal of how i imagine NES games are supposed to look, somehow. the rich colors, the chunky scanlines! pixel stuff looks maybe a tad too emulator-perfect at times, too digital, but that's the nature of broadcast monitors with super-high resolving capability and i like what this display is putting out far more than that bothers me.

throw in the PAL support (πŸŽ‰) and this is a straight upgrade to the consumer Sony KV-29DS65 i've been using since 2005. definitely going to have it serviced, and though i still want to consider a circa 2001 Toshiba A-series--gorgeous slot mask!!--this may be an endgame set.

i think if i weren't so depressed for uh, years i'd be a lot more excited by this monitor and the wild events that lead to getting it, lmao. everyone else who got one sure is. hoping the Good Feelings will hit me eventually.
