could sending a standard stereo audio signal (via RCA cables, for example) into a CRT monitor's H and V sync jacks possibly cause damage to the electronics?

(reason i'm asking underneath)

why, you may ask. because of a preculiarity with my A/V switching setup whereby sometimes the cables plugged into the H/V sync jacks will send sync data as expected, but at other times, when the H/V sync isn't needed, it will send an (errant, unneeded, but annoying to disable) audio signal.

i know, odd. but if this mixed setup works it will be a lot easier / more elegant / less disruptive for me. of course, a broken, expensive CRT would be even more disruptive.
