Oh my god, I rented this back in the day too. All I remember are some werewolves and a giant skeleton boss. It's still the only Castlevania I've played.
yep, there's a were-thing in the first stage, and skeleton's the first boss!
curious why you haven't otherwise vania-ed. curious about Symphony of the Night at all? that one bowled me over back then and shaped my tastes for a while.
I guess I just never took an interest in the series. I didn't grow up with them, and generally I only bother to emulate stuff that I'm nostalgic for. I did try Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which I'm told is in the same style. Unfortunately I kind of bounced off it.
I'll always prefer Legacy of Darkness over CV64 because of Cornell (but I dig both games). Tearing through Dracula's Castle as a silver haired werewolf fulfilled so many fantasies of mine as a kid/teen. Despite both game's quirks, I have so many fond memories of them. Also, skeletons on motorcycles. Can't go wrong there.
werewolves are always a plus, yes!
i just got to Castle Center. the Tunnels were pretty mid.
I need to replay the game myself. It's been at least 20 years since I've beaten it.
It's a game that kind of blows in a number of ways but over time I've moved into loving the Magical Nitro Run and the anachronistic chainsaw and the weird ideas. The only vampire game where you have to worry about becoming a vampire!
Apparently all suggestions ought to be applied to Belmonts with blunt force to the head.
I've re-read your comment several times now... very mysterious...
Some kind of code? π€
i love c64 lol it's very muddy both graphically and gameplay wise but i actually kind of dig how it controls. vibey game
