low-effort pic today. not much going on here but this is probably the last time i hooked up my 1992 Sega CD. you can see uneven somewhat colored stripes in the background, which is supposed to be black. a video artifact, at least of this setup.

the Genesis' dome has nice shiny bits. 🀩

have at least 10 copies of that terrible Sega CD fmv Power Rangers game that were like a dollar each at Toys 'R' Us in the '90s; figured they'd come in handy as Sega CD / Saturn case donors in the future.

in reply to @wave's post:

i'm happy to have them all playable on MiSTer FPGA. no fuss, no muss.

i have snatcher (wonderful) and popful mail (terrible WD hackjob), are probably the two biggies. i wanted keio flying squadron back in the day but never managed to get it.

oh, no soldering required thankfully! i'm not fond of it either. all of the common MiSTer parts (boards) are manufactured by numerous and varied sources, so all you do is snap a few pieces together and you've got a MiSTer. (or buy it prebuilt, but little reason to imo...)

here's an example of a kit that includes the two common sub-boards most people want, plus the needed RAM.

understanding MiSTer can definitely feel intimidating at first glance but i assure you it's super simple once you get the basic notion of what each piece of the stack does. happy to offer thoughts / assistance if ever desired.

the price situation is unfortunate. the DE10-Nano (the heart the MiSTer is built around) has increased by like $100 in the last year and also become scarcer in stores. if you're trying to source one, the best bet is to buy one directly from its manufacturer, Terasic. they are surprisingly helpful and reliable.
