I understand all the reasons you don't want to quote-post / boost / put people on blast, but like, it means that much of the time when there's discourse, I am literally unsure what people are talking about, which is stressful, oh and also it's not like there's search on this website

remember that you can link posts without needing to give the other person a notification.

It's not perfect, and still has the 'my audience may go to engage with them', but at least it's not a direct share inviting a thread that keeps notifying them.

And it's easy enough to quote the relevant parts

you don't want to quote-post / boost / put people on blast

and then add commentary, and then:

I am literally unsure what people are talking about, which is stressful

and have more commentary

it's more work, but, well, the tools are here. Or you can screenshot it and crop out the personal details. As bad as that is for captioning, I think this is the one place it's the lesser of the two issues.
