the fact that Pokemon games ask you to pick a "style" which is a combination of binary gender and 4 different skin tones/hair colors... then just immediately hit you with she/her, miss, young lady etc is so annoying.

if you're gonna be extremely gender binary just have me pick a gender at the beginning. these games haven't grown out of "are you a boy or a girl" and I'm tired of them pretending.

yeah I know at first everyone was really stoked about this transition to "choose your style" but I feel like it has proven to be a basically do nothing response. all they did was swap that out for asking if you were a boy or a girl and changed nothing else, really doing something would be a lot more thoughtful work that was never put in.

for me I kind of would just prefer keeping the "boy or girl" thing rather than this disingenuous stuff

exactly. just be honest that you don't care rather than pretending you do for brownie points.
