i love vscode and was an early adopter of it

i also used vim for like 8 years

i still keep EDITOR=vim in the shell because... idk something feels illegal to me about a command line git commit opening up a GUI editor?? lol

that being said i do most git stuff via the vscode built-in GUI (NOT gitlens

in reply to @NireBryce's post:

like im not judging you unless you're telling people that it's easy to migrate off VSCode if you just <5 years of built up context I already have and do not care about>, and then didn't bother to read that far

there's absolutely false positives, however, in this case I don't think that matters much because most people will self-sort by reading the room

in reply to @wavebeem's post:

oh yeah what I mean is half of them just didn't bother setting it but have incredibly strong opinions about what people should be doing with their editors to set them up like VS code so you can migrate off of it. I guess I should clarify more but it's sorta lost in the soup

like i get why they do it it's an excellent way to procrastinate but i wish we'd learn something in 20 years ig

hahaha, yeah i spent soooo much fucking time tweaking vim in the past, and i BARELY used extensions compared to a lot of ppl. i don't begrudge people for having something tech to fiddle with. for me that's mostly wavebeem.com and pkmn.help lol.
