thinking about cat names: food category. for some reason "Pringles" works for me, but "Doritos" doesn't. it's inexplicable.
"spaghetti", "fettuccine", "ravioli", "rigatoni", "rotini", "macaroni", "tortellini", "manicotti", and "gnocci" all work for me, but "farfalle", "ziti", and "penne" do not
i feel like i could call a cat "formaggio", "prosciutto", or "risotto", but not "cioccolata".
cats "pring" very often, but then do not "dorito" at all
But at least to my ears "Dorito" does. Making things extra-weird.
think it's the syllables and the mouth sounds. pringles has one primary vowel sound (the soft "ih") doritos has a hard ("oh" "ee" "oh") that doesn't roll off the tongue as well.
I think if you changed it to "Dortos" it would feel nicer
