@graham asked:

What inspires you?

Hey graham! Thanks for da ask

  • Music is one of my main motivators. If I'm not listening to something, I'm probably remembering a song (it can be a problem). I have several playlists for like different moods, although it's not nearly as elaborate as it should be. I tend to get stuck on an artist or album for months. My favorite songs make me visualize things, and that's part of why I do what I do. I wanna share the visions :)
    I've always wanted to be able to make a whole-ass painting from hearing a specific song...as the song is playing. I don't think that's feasible at least for me but sometimes I like to pretend, and instead have the songs as my "main focus" at the beginning of the process, stuck on repeat until I inevitably wear it out and admit defeat.

(Listen to Opeth and Gojira)

  • Sometimes a friend shares something and it just ignites a spark, it seems! That and like, analyzing someone's style and trying to learn from it and apply it to my work, since I'm still trying to find "My Style"

  • Feeling like absolute garbage will absolutely make me wanna scribble something and/or cry about it. I also have what I believe to be little manic moments where the thing just "must be drawn", and it's hard to explain, it's a combination of things like a good feeling, energy, mental state, probably a song or an ost, a movie or a video game, etc. and the memory and the emotional state turn into motivation. I think.

  1. What do you like most about your own work?

Hey robin :3

That's a very introspective question isn't it? Toughie...I don't normally think about what I like of my own stuff, as opposed to what I dislike about it. (Like most people I guess)

I guess...I'm quite happy with how I've progressed with color. I still consider myself a beginner, so I tend to be pleasantly surprised with how people receive my paintings. Like half the time I have no clue wtf im doing, but it turns out alright. That's a good feeling :)

Also whenever I experiment with something, I think my best work is the pieces where I thought "what if I try this wacky thing" or explored some concept I hadn't before. The wacky thing is sometimes "use a different brush lol" but yeah.
