Kajetan, a dog and famous detective, and his assistant, Cat Makawity, try to solve the mystery of the director's disappearance and the problems of other creatures from the neighbourhood. Only the Secret of Marabou’s Code can stop Chameleon, a dangerous criminal.
So, these eagel eyed among you might recognise I've talked about this movie before- this was in fact a movie I shilled back when I recommended the 35mm site first time on here. But then this was just a bonus and now it is a main feature so there!
The movie is actually based around a classic children's book ,Bromba i inni' (,Bromba and others') by Maciej Wojtyszko. Yes, it is the same guy who directed the movie-not the main topic but wow, the dude has done a lot of stuff- theater directing, screenwriting, did some comics, directed tv shows... A lot of stuff.
The sad thing about the book is that... well, I don't think it has ever been translated in english. Seen references to it having several translations but nothing comes up trying to find an english translation of it. And that's somehow understable cause this work runs on puns. Like puns are a very big and important part of the whole thing! Which sadly english translation for the movie doesn't capture-though I can't blame them. I am just grateful I can at least share Bromba with my friends in some way because just few years back I lamented the fact if I wanted to share the movie I would essentially have to do translation in real time.
Well, this post has less to do with the movie and more with the book by now but I do highly recommend the movie if only to experience just a little bit of this lovely universe's magic :).
