We'd like to apologize for the long delay since our last update, but we've been busy dealing with a smorgasbord of human health issues.

In the meantime, we've been using the funds you all have so generously contributed to pay for pandi's specialty sensitive stomach food, some much needed grooming, accessibility equipment like bed ramps, and regular medical expenses.

Unfortunately, we're now also dealing with another serious canine health issue.

Two days ago, we noticed that Pandi was breathing significantly faster at rest than she normally does. Seeing this, we brought her in to the vet to get her checked out. The doctor listened to Pandi's chest and then decided to take some x-rays. The x-ray results were not good. They indicated significant infiltration in Pandi's left lung.

According to the doctor, this meant one of two things:

  1. Pneumonia. This was by far the most likely possibility.
  2. Lung cancer. The doctor said this was quite unlikely due to the shape and size of the infiltration in Pandi's lung but he couldn't rule it out entirely.

Based on the results of the x-rays, the ver decided to place pandi on a two week regimen of antibiotics in hopes of clearing up the pneumonia.

If the antibiotics don't work, the doc said he'll have to call in an internist to perform a lung biopsy. Given the fact that this would involve calling in a specialist, administering anesthesia, and lab processing, it would likely be very expensive.

The x-rays were already rather pricy, but if we have to pay for the biopsy, we'll definitely go significantly over budget. I've added another $2,400 to the goal in order to account for this possibility.

Naturally, if it does turn out to be lung cancer, any sort of treatment we pursue will be MUCH more expensive than this, but we're holding out hope that it won't come to that.

Y'all have already been so incredibly generous to us, and we know money is especially tight around the holidays, so we're really hesitant to ask for more funds. Unfortunately, we had a lot of unexpected health and maintenance expenses over the past few months, so we hardly have any savings left.

So as much as it pains us to say, please contribute whatever you can. If you can't contribute money, then please contribute time. Share the gofundme around to your friends, colleagues, followers, relatives, or even enemies. Every little bit helps and is tremendously appreciated.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this update. We hope the next one will come with some good news.
