This is from the beginning sequence of Nonono Puzzle Chalien, a 2005 minigame compilation in the "Chalien" series by Creatures Inc. In the first screenshot, Hirokacha, the guy with a star for a head, basically asks the player if they'd like an explanation on gameplay, with the answers being "はい" (Japanese for yes) and "イエス" (English yes in katakana). The second screenshot shows the result of selecting the latter, which causes Hirokacha to be amazed at the player knowing a foreign language (English here as opposed to Japanese). I just found this really funny and wanted to share. It's such a creative way of doing a "yes/yes" option.
Choosing the former option just makes him remark something like Earthlings being obedient or something.
This is also a good time for me to talk about my interest in the Chalien series, particularly this game's GBC predecessor, Chee-Chai Alien. I got real interested a few months back and not only did some technical research on that game, but also got my drive to learn Japanese revved up in the hopes of getting a translation patch done sometime. I've been spending a good chunk of my holiday time on renshuu.org this past week or so, and this series is part of the reason why.
